Omar Fayed entered the round-of-32 tie in the 62nd minute, replacing the booked Kevin Akpoguma with the score level at the Mapei Stadium.

Benjamin Domínguez had given Sassuolo the lead in the 36th minute after capitalising on an Akpoguma mistake and beating Guillaume Desplanches.

Aleksa Terzić equalised during first-half stoppage time, meeting Luis Hasa’s pass with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area.

Frosinone had two efforts disallowed after the interval. Daniel Bîrligea was denied by an offside decision before Matteo Cichella found the net in the 74th minute.

However, the referee overturned Cichella’s goal following a VAR review after ruling that Fayed had fouled Bowie earlier in the move.

Neither team found a winner before the final whistle, sending the match directly to penalties without extra time.

Fayed converted his attempt during the shootout. However, Wisdom Amey and Hasa failed from the spot as Sassuolo completed a 5-4 penalty victory.

The result eliminated Frosinone and sent Sassuolo into a round-of-16 meeting with Juventus.

Fayed’s Coppa Italia appearance came two weeks after he completed a permanent transfer from Fenerbahçe. The 23-year-old signed a four-year contract on August 19.

The former Arab Contractors defender had not appeared during Frosinone’s opening two Serie A matches, leaving him still awaiting his league debut in Italy.

Doha: In the presence of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), the QOC held its “Journey & Achievement Ceremony 2026” on Wednesday at its headquarters, celebrating its employees and recognising their dedication, outstanding performance and commitment to continuous learning and development.

The ceremony was attended by HE Mohamed bin Yousef Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; HE Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Second Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; and HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, along with a number of QOC department directors.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani honoured 102 QOC employees, including 30 recipients of the Appreciation, Excellence, Incentive and “Ambition” awards, as well as 72 graduates of the 2025 development programmes.

The Appreciation Award comprised two categories: employees who have completed 25 years or more of service, in recognition of their longstanding dedication, loyalty and contributions to the QOC’s journey; and retired employees who concluded their careers after years of service and achievement, in appreciation of their efforts and contributions throughout their time at the QOC.

The Excellence Award featured three categories: Supervisory Positions, Specialist Category and Employee Category, recognising employees who demonstrated outstanding leadership and team management, professional and specialised competence, high-quality performance, and a continued commitment to developing their skills and professional capabilities.

The Incentive Awards comprised five categories: Job Commitment Award, Initiative Award, Cooperation and Teamwork Award, Distinguished Team Leader Award, and Effective Participation in Organising Sports Events Award. The awards recognised employees who demonstrated outstanding commitment, initiative, collaboration and leadership, as well as those who made notable contributions to the successful organisation of sporting events.

The QOC also honoured seven employees with the “Ambition” Award, which is presented to employees who obtained academic qualifications during 2025, in recognition of their ambition and commitment to continuing their education and developing their academic and professional capabilities in ways that benefit the QOC.

The ceremony also recognised 72 employees who graduated from five development programmes in 2025. These included 12 graduates of the Leadership Excellence Programme, 15 from the Sports Events Organising Cadres Programme, 15 from the Competencies Programme, 15 from the Tawasol Programme and 15 from the Artificial Intelligence Programme.

The programmes aim to develop the leadership and professional capabilities of QOC employees, prepare and qualify the next generation of leaders, and develop qualified personnel capable of managing and organising sporting events efficiently and professionally. They also seek to strengthen institutional communication skills and promote the effective use of artificial intelligence tools in the workplace to support digital transformation and enhance institutional performance.

The Tawasol and Artificial Intelligence programmes were recently introduced under the direction of HE the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. The Tawasul Programme focuses on developing employees’ institutional communication skills, strengthening their ability to build effective professional relationships and represent the QOC professionally at local and international forums. The Artificial Intelligence Programme aims to equip employees with the skills to utilise artificial intelligence tools in the workplace.

Maryam Al Kuwari: Creativity is a culture and a practice in the workplace

Maryam Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari, Director of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs at the Qatar Olympic Committee, said that the “Journey & Achievement 2026” ceremony provides an opportunity to recognise the efforts of QOC employees and celebrate examples of dedication, excellence and ambition, noting that every achievement is underpinned by a journey of hard work, commitment and development.

She said: “Every year, through ‘Journey & Achievement’, we seek to highlight a value that we want to embed in our daily practices and workplace culture. This year, we have chosen ‘Creativity’, reflecting our belief that organisations looking to the future do not simply repeat what has worked in the past, but continuously seek better ways of working and developing.”

Al Kuwari highlighted the QOC’s commitment to attracting outstanding talent from leading universities, with a focus on specialised fields that align with the Committee’s current and future needs. She noted that over the past three years, the QOC has recruited 98 employees, including talented professionals and graduates from leading universities, across specialised fields including sports management, information systems, law, finance and accounting, marketing and communications, among others.

She added that the QOC has witnessed a significant increase in women’s participation in its workforce in recent years, with women now accounting for 42% of the QOC’s total workforce, alongside increased female representation in supervisory and leadership positions.

Al Kuwari added that the QOC’s responsibility does not end with attracting talent, but extends to developing and investing in its employees. She noted that the QOC began its development programme journey in 2019 with just one programme, and today, thanks to the continued support and guidance of the QOC’s senior leadership, it has five specialised development programmes: the Sports Events Organising Cadres Programme, Competencies Programme, Leadership Excellence Programme, Artificial Intelligence Programme and Tawasol Programme.

She explained that 277 employees from across the QOC’s departments have graduated from the five development programmes since their launch. In addition, nearly 100 training courses and awareness, educational and learning programmes were delivered in 2025, benefiting approximately 1,000 employees from QOC departments, sports federations and committees.

Al Kuwari also highlighted the importance of the Artificial Intelligence Programme in developing employees’ ability to effectively utilise AI technologies and tools in the workplace, helping to improve productivity, enhance working methods and identify more efficient and innovative solutions.

وجاءت المباراة قوية ومثيرة منذ صافرة البداية، في ظل التنافس الكبير بين الفريقين ورغبة كل منهما في انتزاع بطاقة التأهل إلى النهائي. وكان الريان المبادر بالتسجيل في الدقيقة 24 عن طريق مهاجمه روجر غيديش، إلا أن الشمال لم ينتظر طويلًا للرد، حيث تمكن مهاجمه الفرنسي ويسلي سعيد من إدراك التعادل في الدقيقة 27، لينتهي الشوط الأول بالتعادل بهدف لمثله.
ومع بداية الشوط الثاني، نجح الشمال في قلب المعطيات وتقدم بالهدف الثاني عن طريق لاعب الوسط التونسي محمد بن رمضان في الدقيقة 54، قبل أن يعود ويسلي سعيد ليؤكد تألقه ويضيف هدفه الشخصي الثاني والثالث لفريقه في الدقيقة 63. ورغم تأخره بهدفين، أظهر الريان شخصية قوية، ورفض الاستسلام، ليتمكن غيديش من تقليص الفارق من ركلة جزاء نفذها بنجاح في الدقيقة 74. واستمرت محاولات الريان حتى نجح لاعب الوسط البلجيكي جوليان دي سارت في تسجيل هدف التعادل الثالث في الدقيقة الخامسة من الوقت المحتسب بدل الضائع.
وفي الدقيقة السابعة من الوقت بدل الضائع، ظن الشمال أنه سجل هدف الفوز عن طريق الجزائري بغداد بونجاح، لكن الحكم محمد المزيد ألغى الهدف بعد العودة إلى تقنية حكم الفيديو المساعد، لينتهي الوقت الأصلي بالتعادل 3-3.
ولجأ الفريقان إلى ركلات الترجيح، التي ابتسمت للريان بنتيجة 5-4، ليحسم بطاقة التأهل إلى النهائي، حيث يلتقي السد يوم 11 ديسمبر المقبل على استاد جاسم بن حمد، في مواجهة مرتقبة لحسم لقب كأس قطر 2026.



محمود أبو ندى:عدنا بفضل روح الرهيب

أكد محمود أبو ندى، حارس مرمى الريان، أن فريقه حقق فوزًا مهمًا ومستحقًا على الشمال، بعد مباراة قوية وصعبة بين الفريقين، نجح خلالها الرهيب في العودة وتحقيق الانتصار وحجز بطاقة التأهل إلى نهائي كأس قطر.
وقال أبو ندى عقب المباراة: «كانت مباراة صعبة وقوية للغاية بين الطرفين، وأعتقد أن الفريقين قدما كل ما لديهما على أرض الملعب، خاصة أن مباريات الكؤوس دائمًا ما تكون مختلفة وتحمل الكثير من الضغوط والحسابات. كنا نعرف أن مواجهة الشمال لن تكون سهلة، وأن علينا أن نكون في أعلى درجات التركيز طوال دقائق المباراة».
وأضاف: أود أن أشكر زملائي اللاعبين على الجهد الكبير الذي بذلوه خلال اللقاء، فقد قاتل الجميع حتى اللحظات الأخيرة ولم يستسلموا رغم تأخرنا في النتيجة. هذا الأمر يعكس شخصية الريان وروح الفريق.
وتابع حارس الريان: رغم تأخرنا، نجحنا في العودة إلى المباراة، وتمكنا من قلب النتيجة وتحقيق الفوز.
وقال أبو ندى: التأهل إلى نهائي كأس قطر خطوة مهمة بالنسبة لنا، لكننا لم نحقق اللقب بعد. أمامنا مباراة نهائية تحتاج إلى تركيز كبير واستعداد مختلف، وسنعمل بكل قوة خلال الفترة المقبلة من أجل الوصول إلى النهائي في أفضل جاهزية ممكنة، ونتمنى أن نكون عند حسن ظن جماهير الريان. وأهدي هذا الفوز والتأهل إلى جماهير الريان التي وقفت خلفنا وساندت الفريق طوال المباراة.



موفق عوض:حاولنا كثيرًا.. والحظ لم يحالفنا

أكد موفق عوض، لاعب الشمال، أن فريقه كان يطمح لتحقيق الفوز على الريان والتأهل إلى نهائي البطولة، مشيرًا إلى أن جميع اللاعبين قدموا كل ما لديهم من أجل تحقيق الهدف.
وقال عوض: «كنا نطمح للفوز والتأهل إلى النهائي، واللاعبون قدموا كل شيء من أجل تحقيق الانتصار. حاولنا كثيرًا طوال المباراة، لكن الحظ لم يحالفنا، خاصة أن ركلات الترجيح تبقى صعبة، ويلعب الحظ فيها دورًا كبيرًا».
وأضاف: «الريان استحق الفوز، ونبارك له التأهل، ونتمنى له التوفيق في النهائي» وقال موفق ان الشمال يحاول جاهدا هذا الموسم في تقديم الافضل وخوض كافة البطولات بنفس الروح والاداء من اجل الافضل.

عبدالله العامري:المباراة أصابتني بالصداع

قال عبدالله العامري، محلل قنوات الكاس، إنه لم يكن يتوقع عودة الريان للمواجهة بعد تأخره في النتيجة امام الشمال في نصف نهائي كأس قطر . مشيراً إلى أن الفريق أظهر شخصية قوية وروحاً قتالية كبيرة خلال مجريات اللقاء. وأضاف: «بصراحة، لم أتوقع أن يعود الريان بهذه الصورة بعد التأخر، خصوصاً أن المباراة كانت تسير في اتجاه صعب بالنسبة له. لكن اللاعبين أظهروا إصراراً كبيراً ونجحوا في العودة إلى أجواء اللقاء، وهذا يحسب للفريق ولشخصيته داخل الملعب. المباراة كانت متقلبة ومليئة بالإثارة والضغط، وبصراحة أصابتني بالصداع من شدة ما شهدناه من فرص وتحولات وتقلبات في النتيجة. مثل هذه المباريات تؤكد أن كرة القدم لا تحسم إلا مع صافرة النهاية».

خالد سلمان:الفريقان قدما مباراة كبيرة

أشاد خالد سلمان نجم الكرة القطرية ومحلل برنامج المجلس بقناة الكاس بالمستوى الذي ظهر عليه الريان والشمال خلال المباراة، مؤكداً أن الفريقين قدما مواجهة قوية ومثيرة، عكست رغبة اللاعبين في تقديم أفضل ما لديهم حتى اللحظات الأخيرة.
وقال سلمان: «الريان والشمال قدما مباراة كبيرة، وكانت مواجهة ممتعة من الناحية الفنية والجماهيرية، خصوصاً في ظل الحماس والندية التي ظهرت بين الفريقين. أعتقد أن الفريقين استحقا الإشادة على المستوى الذي قدماه، فقد كانت هناك رغبة واضحة في التسجيل وصناعة الفرص، وهذا انعكس بصورة مباشرة على أحداث المباراة».
