Klipdrift Reveals 23 Springbok Lookalikes in BokSearch Squad
For a moment, South Africa appeared to have two Springbok squads.
Standing together for an official team photograph were 23 men bearing a resemblance to some of the country’s best-known rugby players. forumteam.blog
These were not the players preparing to take the field. They were everyday South Africans selected for Klipdrift’s Same Same But Klippies #BokSearch squad.
A Search for South Africa’s Bok Doubles
The campaign brings together Springbok rugby culture and the Klippies & Coke pairing.
As the Springboks cannot enjoy brandy during matches, Klipdrift searched for ordinary South Africans who resemble the players and enjoy Klippies.
The team photograph follows months of entries from people who recognised their own resemblance to a Springbok or nominated someone they knew.
Each selection helped build Klipdrift’s matchday squad of 23 Bok doubles.
Grant Williams and Aphelele Fassi Lookalikes Join the Squad
Antonio Munnik, a law enforcement officer from Belhar, was nominated because of his resemblance to Springbok scrumhalf Grant Williams.
Durban real estate agent Zwelethu Maziya joined the search as Aphelele Fassi’s double.
His friends had joked about the resemblance for some time. They repeatedly sent Maziya the campaign’s Bok Search scanner link and encouraged him to enter.
Eben Etzebeth Resemblance Causes a Stir
Anthony Smit, a construction worker from Paarl, was selected because of his resemblance to Eben Etzebeth.
The similarity has led to several amusing encounters.
Smit recalled walking into a biltong shop where a woman was so convinced he was the Springbok lock that she fell off her chair.
She attempted to recover before realising he was not Etzebeth and somehow fell from the chair again.
“Meeting the other doubles was amazing. It felt like being part of a provincial rugby team, everyone was ready to play,” Anthony says.
From Individual Entries to a Team of 23
For the selected doubles, the experience involved more than being compared to a rugby player.
The campaign brought together 23 South Africans who share the unusual experience of being mistaken for members of the Springbok squad.
“Rugby has a way of bringing South Africans together, whether it’s around a screen, at the stadium, at a braai or through the friendly debates that start long before kick-off,” says Donné Wolk, Marketing Head of Spirits. “With #BokSearch, we wanted to celebrate that connection in a way that felt distinctly South African. What began with people spotting remarkable resemblances became thousands of South Africans taking part and helping us build a second squad. Seeing all 23 Bok doubles together is a powerful reflection of the spirit behind Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry.”
Search Expands Across the Springbok Teams
The Same Same But Klippies search is not limited to the Springbok men’s team.
Klipdrift has added players from the Springbok Women and Springbok Sevens teams to its scanner.
South Africans now have the opportunity to search for doubles from across the wider Springbok family.
Entries Remain Open Until September 2026
Although the starting squad has been selected, places on the bench remain available.
South Africans aged 18 and older may enter #BokSearch until the end of September 2026.
Entrants stand a chance to win a framed Springbok jersey or earn a place as an official Same Same But Klippies squad member.
The first 23 positions have been filled, but Klipdrift’s search for more Springbok doubles continues.

League champions in waiting? Mette rejoices in successful project brewing at Tusker
NAIROBI, Kenya, August 24, 2026 – Tusker head coach Julien Mette says the teamwork culture at the club has enabled new players to adapt quickly to his playing philosophy.
The Frenchman says the older players have easily oriented the newcomers to the inner workings at the brewers, transforming the team into a juggernaut.
“The game plan and the game philosophy is the same since I came here. The older players have helped integrate the new ones telling them about the philosophy and the principles around it…and the same is repeated in the training sessions. Therefore, it is easy technically and tactically to to enter the team because we know what we have to do in every situation,” Mette said.
Mette assumed the reins at Tusker in February this year, instantly transforming a team that were staring at a trophyless season with his midas touch.
The 44-year-old steered the brewers to continental football by way of a 2-1 win over Kenya Police in the FKF Cup final in June.
A group stage exit at the Cecafa Club Championships in Rwanda aside, Mette has soldiered on with his rebuilding project and continued to reap dividends.
A 3-1 win over Premier League champions Gor Mahia to lift the FKF Super Cup on Sunday is testament to the brewers’ credentials as title challengers in 2026/27.
A number of new arrivals caught the eye in that much with their exemplary displays as the 12-time league champions shackled K’Ogalo.
Servyl Akouala was impenetrable on the left side of the defence whereas Alvin Mang’eni was always a menace with his searing pace in the middle of the park.
Rather than zero in on individuals, Mette praised the collective effort of the team, noting that they were better in all aspects than their opponents.
“It’s a competitive game, not a friendly…against the league champions who reached the finals of the Cecafa Club Championships. It was a tough game but I think we deserved the win. We scored three good goals and managed them well especially as they were trying to come back. It was a good game from us in terms of tactical, technical and mental,” the former AS Otoho coach said.
With such a five-star performance against Charles Akonnor’s charges, Tusker will be bubbling with confidence as they approach the new season.
They may not have reached full fermentation as far as a top team is concerned but the signs that Mette and Co are headed in the right direction are all clear for all and sundry to see.
FIFA : Infantino, jusqu’où peut-il encore tenir ? (Ahmed Bessol)
Gianni Infantino va d’échec en échec. Et, à mesure que les jours passent, la question de son départ n’est plus seulement posée par ses adversaires. Elle commence à s’imposer comme une véritable question de gouvernance pour la FIFA. Le dernier épisode est particulièrement révélateur.
Invité à un tournoi U14 en République dominicaine, le président de la FIFA a été prié par Victor Montagliani, président de la CONCACAF, de reconsidérer sa venue. Sa présence, lui a-t-on fait savoir, risquait de détourner l’attention du football des jeunes. Infantino est pourtant venu. A l’évidence, le patron du football mondial n’est désormais plus forcément le bienvenu chez lui.
Dans le même temps, la Nouvelle-Calédonie affiche son soutien à Infantino et annonce son intention de voter pour lui en 2027. Ce soutien existe et il faut le reconnaître. Mais il ne peut masquer une réalité beaucoup plus lourde : le front de la contestation s’élargit de plus en plus et il ne serait pas étonnant de le voir prendre une initiative extrême dans les prochains jours.
Le projet de faire entrer des investisseurs privés dans une nouvelle structure commerciale liée à la Coupe du monde a été abandonné après une levée de boucliers. UEFA, AFC et CONCACAF ont exprimé leur opposition. Des fédérations ont pris leurs distances. D’anciens proches du président ont rompu avec lui. Et la possibilité même d’une motion de défiance est désormais évoquée. Ce n’est plus un incident. C’est une succession.
Certes, Infantino peut toujours compter sur des soutiens, notamment du Maroc et parmi certaines petites fédérations qui apprécient les moyens et les places supplémentaires obtenus sous sa présidence. Mais une présidence ne se mesure pas seulement au nombre de voix favorables. Elle se mesure surtout à la confiance qu’inspire celui qui dirige. Or cette confiance est sérieusement entamée.
Et lorsque, interrogé sur les appels à sa démission, Infantino préfère plaisanter sur la coupe de cheveux d’un journaliste plutôt que répondre au fond, cela donne surtout le sentiment d’un président qui esquive la question essentielle : pourquoi rester lorsque la confiance s’effrite autour de vous ? Certains n’hésitent pas à parler de la perte d’un salaire mensuel faramineux et des indemnités qui donnent le tournis.
Aussi, Infantino peut-il encore décider de s’accrocher à son fauteuil et maintenir sa candidature à un quatrième mandat. Mais elle ne sera pas le seul comme il le souhaitait. Il ne peut compter ses soutiens et attendre 2027. Mais rester au pouvoir n’est pas forcément conserver son autorité. C’est là que se trouve aujourd’hui le véritable problème.
La FIFA a besoin d’un président capable de rassembler, pas d’un président obligé, semaine après semaine, de démontrer qu’il possède encore une majorité. Alors, jusqu’à quand Infantino peut-il tenir ? La vraie question est peut-être désormais ailleurs : combien de temps la FIFA peut-elle encore se permettre de continuer avec lui ? Et si son départ était finalement la seule véritable porte de sortie à cette crise de gouvernance ?

Rassie on why Paulie D might be dropped
Rassie Erasmus says there’s no reason why Paul de Villiers shouldn’t face the All Blacks in Cape Town on Saturday, but Siya Kolisi is the Springbok captain.
Speaking on Monday after naming the Bok 23 to face New Zealand at Cape Town Stadium this week, Erasmus confirmed Kolisi’s inclusion hinges on getting through training, with the 35-year-old still carrying a “niggle”.
Pieter-Steph du Toit has been named Bok captain for the fifth time this season, ahead of what would be the two-time World Cup winner’s 100th Test.
“That’s why he’s slashed with Paul, and we also don’t want to train today without a named captain,” Erasmus told reporters. “That’s why Pieter-Steph is staying captain, but if Siya gets through, we might make a change there.

“We just want to make sure that if Siya doesn’t get through, then at least we had the captain on the day.”
Should Kolisi be cleared, Erasmus confirmed De Villiers, who has started all four of his Tests for the world champions so far in 2026, would drop out of the squad entirely rather than move to the bench.
“No. Paul moves out of the 23.”

Erasmus explained why Kolisi’s return would strengthen the Boks against a New Zealand outfit looking to build on a 1-0 Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series lead.
The veteran loose forward’s all-round game is arguably better suited to matching the Kiwis’ high-tempo style, unlike the 23-year-old De Villiers’ more specialist breakdown role.
“Paul played well on Saturday, and there’s no reason why we should keep him out,” Erasmus noted. “But, Siya is our captain, Pieter-Steph is doing a sterling job and he is really playing well.

“Siya has got some strengths, one of them being the attacking breakdown, he’s really good at sorting that out for us, which was the area we struggled with [in last Saturday’s defeat at Ellis Park].
“There were lots of times that we played badly, not because they did anything illegal, but we couldn’t get the ball away out of the breakdown when we were in really good attacking positions. Siya’s really good at that.
“And then, as you rightly say, he’s really good at getting us from defence – him and Pieter-Steph together, we call it ‘the gates’ – they’re well organised in the defensive sets in the gates. That was definitely something which we lacked.
“But Paul will just get better. He’s only played four matches. So, yes, I think Siya will definitely help us in those two areas.”

ALG : Les fans du MC Alger s’impatientent (Lyès. L)
À quelques jours de la clôture du mercato estival, la pression monte sérieusement autour du Mouloudia d’Alger.
Les supporters du Doyen ne cachent plus leur inquiétude face à la situation actuelle de leur équipe, appelée cette saison à défendre son titre de champion d’Algérie et à réaliser un parcours ambitieux en Ligue des champions africaine. Avant-hier, plus de 4 000 supporters mouloudéens se sont rendus au centre de Zéralda afin d’exprimer leur mécontentement. Cette mobilisation traduit clairement l’impatience des supporters, qui estiment que l’effectif actuel nécessite encore des renforts de qualité pour pouvoir répondre aux objectifs élevés fixés au club. Cette manifestation populaire place désormais Hakim Hadj–Redjem sous une pression considérable. Le président du conseil d’administration dispose encore de quelques jours avant la fermeture du marché des transferts pour tenter d’inverser la tendance et calmer la colère des supporters.
Une forte pression sur Hadj-Redjem
Les fans mouloudéens attendent notamment
une dernière opération d’envergure susceptible de changer leur perception de ce mercato. Un renfort de poids, voire un véritable coup de tonnerre, pourrait permettre à la direction de reprendre la main et de convaincre les supporters que le Mouloudia dispose des moyens nécessaires pour défendre son statut de champion. La situation est d’autant plus sensible que les ambitions du club ne se limitent pas au championnat national. Le MCA sera également engagé sur la scène continentale et devra se montrer à la hauteur en Ligue des champions africaine. Pour les supporters, il est donc indispensable de disposer d’un groupe suffisamment étoffé et compétitif
afin de jouer sur tous les tableaux. Dans ce contexte déjà tendu, la démission de Djamel Benlamri de son poste de manager général constitue un autre élément qui n’a pas arrangé la situation.
La démission de Benlamri, un coup dur
Son départ a été préjudiciable au fonctionnement du club et intervient à un moment où la direction doit justement afficher davantage de stabilité et de cohérence dans sa gestion sportive. Les prochains jours seront donc décisifs pour Hadj-Redjem et son équipe. Le président devra désormais trouver les arguments, mais surtout les renforts, capables de faire retomber la pression. Car au-delà de la mobilisation observée à Zéralda, le message des supporters réside dans le fait qu’ils refusent de voir le Mouloudia aborder une saison aussi ambitieuse avec le sentiment de ne pas avoir suffisamment renforcé ses rangs. Entre la défense du titre national et le défi continental, le Doyen n’a plus beaucoup
de temps pour convaincre son public.
