Stormers: Kick off time for massive match, Muller set for debut

The Stormers will have everything to play for when Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash kicks off against the Glasgow Warriors.

A win would see them climb to the top of the table or remain in second place, depending on Leinster’s result, to remain in a strong position for a home quarter-final, and to make up for their disappointing defeat against Connacht last week. sportnewz.click

The Stormers’ clash in Cape Town will kick off at 13:45

With home ground advantage and the inspiration of leaping further up the table set to fuel their motivation immensely, the Capetonians will have everything to play for. However, they will be wary of the fact that the visitors will be hellbent on avenging their big defeat last week against the Lions, and to hold onto their first-place standing, which has all the makings for a gripping encounter.

The Stormers will also want to keep their impressive home-win track record intact after only suffering two defeats at home in the competition this season. But with the tournament at a knife’s edge, with a handful of teams still able to overtake them on the table in the next two weeks, and a tour to Ireland and Wales lying ahead, there will be no lack of motivation.

Exciting debut on the cards

Markus Muller will become the youngest-ever player to represent the Stormers if he comes off the bench, with coach John Dobson stating that he had full faith in the 18-year-old.

“We wanted to play Markus this season,” Dobson explained. “He’s a great player and it’s important to show that if you come through our system, you’ll get an opportunity.

“Our plan is to give him 10 or 15 minutes at a high level. He’s probably not the first guy on, but we want him to experience it.”

Emmanuel Eboue: ‘I lost everything after ban’

Former Arsenal and Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Eboue has come out to reveal how he lost his fortunes following a break up with his mother of three kids.

‎Speaking on the 5th House Podcast, the 42-year-old opened up about the legal proceedings that reportedly left him penniless in England, the country where he spent the most successful years of his professional career.

‎Eboué, who was a mainstay in the Gunners’ starting XI during the mid-2000s, confirmed the settlement resulted in the total loss of his UK-based assets.

‘I lost everything in my life in England’

“I lost a lot. A lot. To be honest, I don’t want to say how much but it was a lot,” said Eboue, who began his football career in the ASEC Mimosas youth academy.

“I lost everything in my life in England. I did everything in my career in England. I bought a lot of houses there. I had three houses there, and I had a lot of cars. I lost all of them, and I lost money also.”

“I was very, very down. I was feeling very down because I was living somewhere that the press knew where I was living.

“So, every day the press was there, so I had to cut up boxes and then put them on the windows because I don’t want the press or media to take pictures of me. I was very, very down. It was very bad; I didn’t even eat.”

Eboue further explained how his downfall started: “They wanted me to give them [my agent] €1million, so I said I would prefer to stop playing football than give them that money.

“My ex-agent went to FIFA and then FIFA banned me for one year. I moved back to Turkey to hide, because I didn’t want people to know I didn’t have a club, and that’s when the divorce started.”

Eboué debuted for Ivory Coast in 2004

Eboue moved to Europe to play for Belgium’s Beveren in 2002. He spent most of his career, from 2005 to 2011, with Arsenal of the Premier League, playing 214 games, including the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final.

Later he moved to Galatasaray, where he played regularly and won five domestic honours in Turkey. Eboué made his international debut for the Ivory Coast in 2004, eventually earning 79 caps by 2013. He was part of their squads at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and two World Cups.

Eboué debuted for Ivory Coast in 2004 and had generally been a regular fixture in the defence operating at right-back for the Elephants, along with former teammate Kolo Touré.

Eboué scored his first goal for Ivory Coast in a 2-2 draw against Germany. He was named in Sven-Göran Eriksson’s Ivory Coast squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Simba versus Young Africans Kariakoo derby gets new venue

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has announced the change of venue for the eagerly-awaited match number 169 of the NBC Premier League season 2025-26, between sworn rivals Simba SC and Young Africans SC, popularly known as the Kariakoo derby.

According to the statement, the match, which was previously to be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, will now be held at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, located in Dar es Salaam.

The change is due to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium being under renovation, which forced the organizers to find an alternative to ensure the match takes place at the scheduled time.

TPLB says all clubs already informed

The match will be played on May 3, starting at 6pm (E.A.T). TPLB further stated all clubs and other stakeholders in the league have already been informed of the change, while preparations are underway to ensure the game is played at the best level that meets the status of the league.

Responding to the changes, Simba Media Officer, Ahmed Ally explained the reasons why the Kariakoo derby was moved to the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium instead of Benjamin Mkapa.

Ally said the initial agreement between both clubs, along with the football authorities and the government, was for a big match like the derby to be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Simba will seek to close gap at top

However, after Simba submitted an official request to the stadium owners, they received information the Mkapa Stadium was undergoing renovations and improvements in preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Due to this situation, Simba was forced to look for an alternative stadium, and decided to use the Isamuhyo Stadium which is already being used as their home stadium this season.

Ally stressed the decision was based on the existing circumstances, with the club following all procedures to ensure the game takes place as planned.

Simba will be seeking to get a win and close in on their rivals, who have already opened a five-point gap at the top of the table. Young Africans have 47 points, while Simba are second with 42.
