Former Biathlete Galina Koukleva Dies at 53

Koukleva, a Russian biathlete, was a fierce competitor to Norwegian Liv Grete Skjelbreid during her career. She won Olympic gold in the 1998 Nagano sprint and silver in the relay, adding bronze in the relay at Salt Lake City in 2002.

The three-time world relay champion also claimed individual silver at the 2000 World Championships in Oslo. The Russian Biathlon Federation expressed condolences, noting Koukleva's achievements will continue to inspire future generations of Russian biathletes.
