WCPL 2026: Yastika Bhatia’s maiden half-century powers TKR to second straight win

Yastika Bhatia registered her maiden WCPL (Women’s Caribbean Premier League) half-century as she guided Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to a comfortable nine-wicket victory in the ongoing tournament. Playing just her second game in the competition, Yastika smashed an unbeaten 57 off 34 balls as TKR chased down the 101-run target with nine wickets and 8.5 overs to spare against Jamaica Empress in Bridgetown on September 10.

Although West Indies spinner Karishma Ramharack bagged the Player of the Match award for her three-wicket haul (3/11) as TKR restricted Jamaica Empress to 100/8, the Team India wicketkeeper-batter was the star with the bat. First, Yastika and Laura Harris (22 off 18) added 35 runs for the opening wicket, followed by an unbeaten 69-run partnership between Yastika and skipper Deandra Dottin (22* off 15).

In her debut season, and playing just her second game, Yastika batted at an impressive strike rate of 167.64 and ensured TKR made it two wins out of two. After this knock, she now has 92 runs in two games, the highest so far in the season.

With this win, TKR now have four points from two games and sit atop the points table. Yastika and TKR will be back in action on September 12 in Bridgetown against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

After this loss, Jamaica Empress will look to bounce back against Barbados Tridents at the same venue on September 13.
